RICHARDSON BAY YACHT CLUB

Opening Day on The Bay is held annually on the last Sunday in April.  Sponsored since 1917 by the Pacific Inter-Coastal Yachting Association, it marks the official opening of each year’s sailing season on San Francisco Bay. About 150 boats from various clubs, including from RBYC, usually participate, parading across the Bay and decorated to creatively-- often outrageously -- reflect the year’s theme.  Non-sailing RBYC members sometimes gather at sister yacht clubs along the parade route to socialize while watching the passing boats.   RBYC boats have won various Opening Day trophies over the years.
